Pre-Thesis Seminar and Senior Seminar

The Senior Seminar is the "capstone" course for most sociology majors. It has two purposes: to provide guidance and assistance in the writing of the senior thesis; and to provide a general review of the theories, methods and substantive conclusions covered in Sociology courses.

In a similar fashion, the senior-year, two-course sequence of “Project DC: Urban Research Internship” is the “capstone” course for those sociology majors who have a Social Justice Analysis concentration. Partnered with varied community organizations, the Project DC students develop a two-semester research project which culminates in their own versions of a senior thesis.

All senior thesis-writers then gather together in late April for the Seniors’ Dinner to celebrate their accomplishments and give capsule summaries of their thesis projects to their teachers and their peers.
