Minoring in Sociology

The Department of Sociology offers a minor in Sociology. Students who wish to apply for a minor in Sociology may declare at any time during the year. All students must contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) to register as a minor. The current DUGS is Professor Kathleen Guidroz, kg578@georgetown.edu. Prospective minors must schedule an interview with the DUGS.

Requirements for Undergraduate Minor

Students minoring in Sociology must take six courses. Two are required – Introduction to Sociology (SOCI 1001) AND either Methods of Social Research (SOCI 2901) or Sociological Theory (SOCI 2902).  The four remaining classes must include two Core Topics lecture courses, one Advanced Seminar course, and one additional elective. Possible Core Topics and Advanced Seminar courses can be found on the “Majoring in Sociology” page.
