Rachel Ellis

Rachel Ellis (SOCI and FREN double-major), is currently finishing her second year in the Sociology Ph.D. program at the University of Pennsylvania. She has just been selected to receive a 2012 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship. The grant is for $30,000 for the year, and the award-message states that her “selection was based on your outstanding abilities and accomplishments, as well as your potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise.” The NSF grant thus helps fund her master’s and her dissertation research projects, a sequential study of changes within Conservative Judaism and the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
